FALCONER, NY - In a significant boost to local infrastructure, Chautauqua County is set to receive substantial funding as part of the statewide BRIDGE NY initiative.

This program, aimed at rehabilitating and replacing local bridges and culverts, has allocated over $484 million to support 216 projects across 137 communities in New York State. Among these, key projects in Chautauqua County have been earmarked for a total of $5.784 million in funding.

Chautauqua County will receive $2.533 million for the replacement of the County Road 30 Baker Street Extension bridge over the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad. This crucial infrastructure project is located near the intersection of Baker Street and Wellman Road, in close proximity to the Cummins Engine Plant. The replacement of this bridge will enhance safety and support local economic activities.

The Town of Mina will benefit from $0.950 million for the replacement of the West Mina Road culvert carrying Darrow Brook. This project is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the road and ensuring the safe passage of residents and visitors.

Additionally, Chautauqua County has been allocated $0.801 million for the replacement of the Jackson Avenue culvert carrying the Tributary to Chautauqua Lake. This project will improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding, thereby protecting local properties and enhancing the natural environment.

Furthermore, the City of Jamestown will receive $1.500 million for the replacement of the Water Street culvert carrying Minnow Brook. This infrastructure upgrade is critical for preventing potential road collapses and ensuring the safety and reliability of the local transportation network.

The BRIDGE NY funding will play a pivotal role in improving the county's infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and ensuring the safety of its residents. By addressing critical bridge and culvert replacements, these projects will enhance the resilience of Chautauqua County's transportation system and contribute to the overall quality of life in the region.

County officials expressed their gratitude for the state's investment in local infrastructure. The timely and targeted use of these funds will not only address immediate concerns but also lay the groundwork for long-term sustainability and prosperity.
