MAYVILLE, N.Y. – The Chautauqua County Legislature has appointed Tamara M. Dickey to officially fill the vacancy left by Dave Wilfong, who resigned last month. Dickey, a long-time leader and collaborator in the Jamestown, NY community, will represent District 11, bringing her extensive professional background and community engagement to the role.
Dickey’s dedication to public service is well-known throughout Chautauqua County. In 2013, she was elected as Jamestown City Councilwoman for Ward 3 and has continuously worked to empower her community. Dickey holds a BS in Economics from St. Augustine University and an MBA from the University of Scranton, a Jesuit school. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and serves as Senior Director in the Finance Department at Geisinger Health System, where she leads a team overseeing approximately $4.3 billion in revenues.
Throughout her career, Dickey has held various leadership roles in the healthcare sector, including at Duke University Health System, UPMC Chautauqua, and St. Lawrence Health System. Her commitment to community service is evident through her philanthropic work with organizations such as Save the Children, the YMCA, and Joint Neighborhood Projects. In 2023, she was honored with the prestigious Shattered-Ceiling Award for Women of Achievement by the YWCA.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Chautauqua County Legislature,” said Dickey. “As a resident of Jamestown for over 20 years, I am excited to advocate for the taxpayers and families of District 11. I look forward to continuing my work in public service and being a strong voice for our community’s needs.”
Legislature Chairman Pierre Chagnon expressed his support for Dickey’s appointment, stating, “Tamara Dickey’s record of service and leadership speaks for itself. Her experience in finance, healthcare, and community advocacy will serve the residents of District 11 well. I am confident that she will bring energy, dedication, and a fresh perspective to the Legislature.”
Dickey has been married to Clyde W. Dickey and have been a resident of Jamestown since 2004. Together, they own property in District 11 and have two adult children and eight grandchildren.
