Jury Delivers Guilty Verdict In Felony Drug Case

MAYVILLE, NY - District Attorney Jason Schmidt is pleased to announce that on Tuesday afternoon a jury returned a verdict finding John Anzalone guilty of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, an A-II felony.

Mr. Anzalone is facing a maximum sentence of 14 years in state prison. This conviction is the result of investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and a lengthy prosecution by the District Attorney’s office.

The JMDTF executed a search warrant on Mr. Anzalone’s residence in January 2021 and located approximately seven ounces of cocaine. JPD was assisted in their investigation by the Ellicott Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office.

Second Assistant District Attorney Erik Bentley and First Assistant District Attorney Andrew Molitor worked together throughout the entirety of this case and trial. The DA would like to thank the jurors for their service in this case.

The DA would also like to thank the JMDTF and the JPD’s Detective Bureau, EDP and CCSO for their work on this case.
