Raheem Butts, age 33, of Jamestown, was sentenced on August 5th by Judge David Foley to a determinate state prison sentence of 3 years with 5 years of post-release supervision after he was convicted of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

In April 2023, the Jamestown Police Department responded to a complaint of shots fired in the City. The police were quickly able to identify Mr. Butts as the individual shooting and found him to be in possession of a firearm.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. In March 2024, Mr. Butts pled guilty to the lesser charge of Att. Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree; he was also sentenced as a non-violent predicate felon for having more than two felony convictions within ten years.

The District Attorney would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department for their work on this case.
