Arson Sentencing

District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Monday that Aubrey Baize, age 30, of Falconer, was sentenced today, July 15th, in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 4 to 12 years after being conviction by a Chautauqua County jury in April 25, 2024 Arson in the Third Degree, a class C felony. In July 2022, the defendant intentionally started a fire in Kennedy, located in the Town of Poland, that consumed two houses and damaged others nearby. Residents of the destroyed homes lost valuable items, cherished property, and beloved family pets.

The DA would like to thank the New York State Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office for their work on this case. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Molitor and Alexander Scherer.
