JAMESTOWN, NY - Two people escaped a jet crash that occurred around 10:12 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Jamestown Airport.
The crash prompted a swift response from first responders. The jet was engulfed in heavy fire and the end of the runway was strewn with shrapnel and debris. Firefighters used foam and set up portable ponds to extinguish the blaze.
Both occupants of the jet managed to exit the aircraft, with one being taken to an emergency trauma center by helicopter.
Preliminary reports suggest the jet had taken off from Dunkirk and was attempting an emergency landing in Jamestown while en route to Florida.
