MAYVILLE, NY – A 44-year-old Jamestown, New York man is headed to state prison in connection with a felony drug and weapons case.

Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Anthony Cunningham’s sentencing on Monday.

In June 2022, Cunningham was arrested after Jamestown Police executed a search warrant. Cunningham was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, class B and C felonies, respectively.

A year later, Cunningham pled guilty to the weapons charge, the drug offense was covered as part of a plea. On Monday, Cunningham was sentenced by Judge David Foley to a determinate state prison sentence of 9 years plus 5 years post-release supervision for the weapon conviction.

“This is Mr. Cunningham’s second felony conviction in Chautauqua County within 10 years, making him a second felony offender,” explained Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt.

Additionally, Cunningham was sentenced in December 2022 on a violation of probation for a previous felony conviction. At that time, Judge Foley sentenced Cunningham to eight years behind bars with five years of post-release supervisor; these sentences will run concurrently.

The DA would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department for their hard work on this case.
