Jamestown Man Resentenced to 18 Years for First-Degree Rape and Criminal Sex Act

District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Monday, March 31st, Dennis Park, age 40, of Jamestown, was resentenced to 18 years in state prison with 25 years post-release supervision on a conviction of Rape in the First Degree, a class B felony, and 18 years with 25 years post-release supervision on a conviction of Criminal Sex Act in the First Degree, a class B felony. 

These sentences will run concurrently to each other. Mr. Park was previously sentenced on these charges in March 2020 but the Appellate Division of New York State determined that the sentence was illegal and ordered it to be returned to Chautauqua County Court in November 2024. 

Mr. Park had the option to be resentenced or withdraw his plea, he chose to be resentenced. The sentenced was imposed by Judge David W. Foley. 

The original incident occurred in August 2018 and the investigation was handled by the Jamestown Police Department.
