DA Secures Prison Time For Felony Robber

MAYVILLE, NY – Jorge Garay, 38, of Jamestown was sentenced Monday, December 4th, to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 3.5 to 7 years by Judge David Foley after being convicted of Robbery in the 3rd degree, a class D felony.

In June 2022, Mr. Garay was arrested by the Jamestown Police Department for Robbery in the 1st degree, as well as other charges, after he stole property from the Big Lots in the city of Jamestown.

When an employee of Big Lots attempted to reclaim the property from the defendant, Mr. Garay pulled out a knife and threated the employee.

Mr. Garay pled guilty to the lesser robbery charge on June 2, 2023. Mr. Garay was sentenced as a second felony offender and was on NYS Parole at the time of this incident.
