VIDEO: Chautauqua County Fair Kicks Off

Submitted by Justin Gould on Tue, 07/16/2024 - 07:59

This morning at 10:30 AM, the Chautauqua County Fair opens with a ceremonial “bang”, as officials fire off an antique cannon to kick off this week’s festivities.

Several local officials will be on hand for the ceremonial kickoff, including Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel.

“This fair celebrates our community’s spirit and heritage,” Wendel said. “I invite everyone to come and enjoy the 4-H program, the fun along the mid-way, the delicious food, and the specialty events featured this year.”

Back this year are all the fair favorites, from 4-H animal presentations to various shows, performances, and food. Organizers say there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Monday night’s grandstand event is the Demolition Derby at 7:00 p.m.

New this year at the Fair are the Globe of Death Squad and Aim High Canines Stunt Dog Show. Each will perform two shows a day Tuesday through Thursday and three shows a day Friday through Sunday. The Globe of Death Squad is an all-ages motorcycle show, while the Aim High Canines Stunt Dog Show will showcase dogs’ frisbee, doggie dancing, and agility skills.

The fair continues through the weekend. General admission at the gate is $15.00 for people ages 4-61 and $9.00 for people over the age of 62. Kids under 3 are admitted at no charge unless they want a ride pass. Tickets for other aspects of the fair, like the Demolition Derby and Monster Truck Show, must be purchased separately.

More information is available online at www.chautauquacofair.org. Watch the fair’s opening ceremony live on Chautauqua County’s YouTube page today at 10:30 a.m.
