Chautauqua County Executive Lifts Mandatory Evacuation Order

Lake Erie Shoreline Residents Can Safely Return Home

 

MAYVILLE, N.Y.:-- Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel has lifted the Mandatory Evacuation Order in the Towns of Hanover and Sheridan and for anyone who lives within the Village of Silver Creek, Hanford Bay or Sunset Bay effective at 1 p.m. on December 24, 2022.

In addition, Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone has lifted the Travel Advisory for Chautauqua County. The State of Emergency Declaration will remain in effect through Monday, December 26, 2022 for all portions of Chautauqua County north of Route 5.

Chautauqua County also urges county residents that return to their homes to use caution, and to ensure their vehicles are not parked on the street. Weather forecasts call for 1-2 feet of snowfall, our road crews will not be able to keep our roads cleared if there are vehicles parked in the street.

“I would like to thank our first responders and road crews,” said Wendel. “This storm had the potential to be very dangerous, and our first responders and road crews ensured that the people of Chautauqua County especially those along Lake Erie were safely evacuated.”
